My designs : My new logo.

As i promised you in my previous article , i'm going to offer you a more  detailed look at my new logo. It's a simple logo , basically my initials , DRC , stylized into two small diamond shapes , incorporated into a bigger diamond. I really like the way it turned out and i'm going to use it in the future on each one of my designs.
I hope you guys like it as well.

My designs : Rangers FC fantasy kit.

In the image above you can see some details from my latest design project , the Rangers FC fantasy kit. It took me a long ,long time to finish it because i wanted a new visual identity for my designs . The iconic gates of the Ibrox Park Stadium have been used as a background for both the home and away kit design . From now on the backgrounds will always be connected with the design somehow. Also i designed a new logo for my  fantasy brand ,DRC designs ...but we'll talk more about that in a future article. Because of this new logo many of my kits will feature some diamond shaped elements, a branding of some sort, if you will. On the home jersey, for example ,  i used a white one and a red one as air vents ( i don't know how else to call them )on the side of the shirt . The last part of this visual identity i was talking about is the grey label on the bottom part of the shirt. It will also be present on most , if not all of my shirts.
The home kit is a traditional royal blue shirt , with white shorts and red and black socks. Rangers sometimes use red socks or even blue ones , but i really think the black ones make their kit unique. The main design element on the shirt is the red and black tartan pattern on the sleeves. I know many Rangers' fans are proud of their british heritage , but this is after all a scottish team and nothing sais Scotland like the tartan. Plus this gives the shirt an original look and i was really going for a classy , but original shirt. Other than that , small red pinstripes are present on the inside of the collar and side of the shirt , a red shield around the club's logo and a red lion above the player's name are the design features of this shirt. I chose to make the collar royal blue , not the traditional white , because i think it gives the shirt a more dynamic and modern look. Two small, red and blue pinstripes , are the only design elements on a otherwise simple white short.

My designs: Boston Celtics' black fantasy kit.

Ever since i started this blog , designing a uniform for my favourite NBA team was in the back of my mind. Celtics' home and away kits have bassicaly stayed the same , they're perfect if you ask me and re-designing them seemed pointless. Having said that , i knew i had to design an alternate kit.
Boston Celtics already uses two alternate kits , but both of them are mainly green , same as the away kit. I know the green is at the core of Celtics identity , but three green uniforms...c'mon...
Like i said in a previous article , Celtics have four official colours : white, green, black and gold. So it wasn't a difficult choice to make...my fantasy kit was going to be a black one, but at the same time it had to look and feel like a Celtics kit .

   Design elements .

The shirt has a v-neck , unlike the traditional Celtics shirts , the shamrock on the back was bigger and pushed higher , up to the neck line , breaking the two collar pinstripes appart . The pinstripes are not right on the edge of the shirt , but were moved a little bit towards the centre. The traditional Boston Celtics  leprechaun is featured on the inside of the collar,  alongside the words drcdesigns and Boston Celtics.
The word "Boston" stands on the front of the shirt , like it does on the real life alternate kit. The font i used is the same font the teams uses in real life.
If only subtile differences have been added to the shirt , the short have been completly re-designed. No vertical pinstripes on the side of the leg  , they have been replaced by a triangle like  green shape, wich houses a clover. A patch , reminding of a boxing short ,stands on the top side of the short.

I hope this is an enjoyable design and also that it captures, at least in part , the traditional look of the Boston Celtics kit.

p.s. I have to give credit where credit is due ! The Larry Bird drawing ( no.33 ) i incorporated as a feature in my overall design , is made by an amazing digital artist from the Philippines . His name is Earlson Vios and i  would recommend you to check his other creations here.
p.s.2. Is it called a "shamrock" or a "clover" ? I never knew :) .

News: Two new weird uniforms by Adidas...

And by weird i mean un-characteristic . Some guys appreciate innovation , i'm more of a traditional guy when it come to sport kits.
First one is a alternate kit for the Boston Celtics NBA team , a kit Adidas named "Parquet Pride" , because on the side it features a pattern that mimics the wooden floor of Celtics'  TD Garden. Don't get me wrong, the uniform looks ok , it's a nice design , but why silver? The Celtics have four official colours : white ( home kit) green ( away kit)  , black (used mainly on a third kit ) and gold ( used on St Patrick alternate kit).
Somehow i don't feel the 5th colour was necessary here .
So...mixed feelings here. I love the C's , they're my favourite NBA team , i like the design overall, i just don't get the silver/grey.

p.s. The last few days i've been working on my own Celtics alternate , more "in touch" with the style and the Celtics tradition. I'm hoping it will turn out great , because , like i said, the C's are my favourite NBA team.

News: The new All Black kit .

New Zealand's national rugby  team , the famous "All Blacks" , presented their new Adidas kit , one they'll use in next year World Championship.
I have to admit , this is a fine piece of kit design , wich puts my fantasy design to shame :).

My designs : England fantasy rugby kit.

My 3rd rugby kit and this time i chose England. I really liked the designs Canterbury provided for England the last few years ( unlike Nike's i might add ) , modern but at the same time very stylish. So i decided to follow the same philosophy on my design , while keeping an eye on the past for any iconic shirts.
In fact the red and navy horizontal patches on the sleeves , are a tribute to such an iconic shirt England wore in the 90's. Those patches , a thin red line and the St. George's cross on the inside of the collar are the only design elements present on the white shirt and shorts. The socks are dark blue ( almost black) with white on the top end.

My designs : Romania rugby kits.

This one is an older design of mine , but recently updated with some new graphics.
The home kit is a traditional kit , like in the 80's and 90's , composed of a yellow shirt with blue collar , blue shorts and red socks. I wanted to give it a more vintage look ,so i chose that polo style collar with just a few of design elements ( some red lines on the side of the shirt ). No design elements on the shorts , but some are present on the socks... a yellow line on the side of the socks and the word "Stejarii " , meaning the "Oaks" ( the nickname of romanian rugby players) written in archaic romanian font.
