In the image above you can see some details from my latest design project , the Rangers FC fantasy kit. It took me a long ,long time to finish it because i wanted a new visual identity for my designs . The iconic gates of the Ibrox Park Stadium have been used as a background for both the home and away kit design . From now on the backgrounds will always be connected with the design somehow. Also i designed a new logo for my fantasy brand ,DRC designs ...but we'll talk more about that in a future article. Because of this new logo many of my kits will feature some diamond shaped elements, a branding of some sort, if you will. On the home jersey, for example , i used a white one and a red one as air vents ( i don't know how else to call them )on the side of the shirt . The last part of this visual identity i was talking about is the grey label on the bottom part of the shirt. It will also be present on most , if not all of my shirts.
The home kit is a traditional royal blue shirt , with white shorts and red and black socks. Rangers sometimes use red socks or even blue ones , but i really think the black ones make their kit unique. The main design element on the shirt is the red and black tartan pattern on the sleeves. I know many Rangers' fans are proud of their british heritage , but this is after all a scottish team and nothing sais Scotland like the tartan. Plus this gives the shirt an original look and i was really going for a classy , but original shirt. Other than that , small red pinstripes are present on the inside of the collar and side of the shirt , a red shield around the club's logo and a red lion above the player's name are the design features of this shirt. I chose to make the collar royal blue , not the traditional white , because i think it gives the shirt a more dynamic and modern look. Two small, red and blue pinstripes , are the only design elements on a otherwise simple white short.
